Church Ball
In the duration of my four years of high school, I was very active in sports. I was always aggressive and serious about every game or match I played in. The sport I had the most fun with was basketball. I played quite a bit in my freshman and sophomore year, but when my junior year started, I began sitting the bench. However, being dedicated to finishing out everything I start, I decided to play my senior year too. Going out my senior was a bad decision because I sat the bench even more. Therefore, I quit school ball and took up the church ball team. Now that I was on a more relaxed team that did not practice every day, basketball became much more enjoyable. I had never really heard of church ball until a good friend told me to come to his game. I asked him if they were still taking players in and he said yes. The next day I went to their practice and talked to the coach. It turned out that I knew the coach because I had played for him when I was younger on a traveling team. I asked him if he needed another player and he happily took me in. I practiced with the team two days later and received quite a few compliments from the other players. We did many different drills, but we mostly scrimmaged each other. I never
became tired because I was used to practicing much harder in school ball. After practice, I went home and my parents asked how the practice went. I told them that it was fun and that I was looking forward to my first game. Church ball had a huge impact on how I looked at basketball. It made it fun and easy to play. The thing I enjoyed most was being able to blow teams away and have kids who hardly played ever, play. I am sure that if I would have stuck out school ball, my outlook on basketball would be a lot different then it is today. I am glad I played for this team instead of sitting the bench for the school team. Our first game was a blowout. We won by 48 points and everyone had a chance to play. The crowd was not shocked by our performance, they applauded and we moved on. The second game was not as easy as the first. This team was the only team to beat us in the regular season and we were sure to get our revenge to get to the championship game. After a long and exciting 32 minutes, we were victorious by ten points. We were on our way to the championship. The season had ended now and we handed in our jerseys. I talked to the coach and he told me that he was glad I quit school ball to play church ball. I told him that I was sick of the coach and sitting the bench and that I just wanted to have fun again. He then read me the stats and it turned out I was the league leader in
