Pan-Slavaism

Pan-Slavism was a movement intending to promote the unity of all Slavic peoples, and they began to emerge in the early nineteenth century. This progression became popular with many countries but also some countries despised it. Their were many political and cultural issues in the debate over Pan-Slavism as in who they were, who supported them, was it right to support them, and who were really the Slavs. Pan-Slavism in Europe was growing nationalism for control that people persisted to have in 1848.

Pan-Slavism consisted of many diverse people from different countries in Europe. The White Russians in Russia, Poles in Poland, Serbs in Ottoman Empire, Slovaks in Austro-Hungarian, and many other nationalities. The amount of Slavic and non-Slavic people in countries were diverse and varied but overall the amount was a


The Pan-Slavism movement in Europe signified the people’s wants to reform and unite as one Slavic nation. The nationality of the Slavs did not matter, but just as long as you were a Slav. It was a cultural movement, for the Slavs, and Political movement, for the countries and their rulers. It affected Europe greatly and brought many reforms and other movements across the continent. The Pan-Slavism movement created dislikes and tension between countries and nationalities and soon sparked the start of World War I.

Now that many supported this movement, also many rejected it and wanted it stopped. Some thought that the idea of it would not work and bring destruction to many countries as in Poland, and Russia. Many disapproved it and thought it would bring destruction but some also went further and tried to stop
