The English Common Law gave the Americans the ideas of courts, juries, judges, and the right to a fair trial in front of a jury. The Magna Carta gave the idea of no unnecessary tax laws can be written and every citizen had a right to a trial before being put in jail. The President does not have complete control over the country today because of the Parliament. The Parliament was set up so that not only one member had all the power and so all the members can check up on each other. These ideas also lead to the concept of checks and balances. Finally, the Bill of Rights was directly taken from Britain but added a few more rights to it. Ideas did not just come from countries, they came from individuals also.
