In the book Catcher in the Rye, written by J.D. Salinger. The main Character is Holden Caulfield through the entire novel. In several ways Caulfield and Fletcher measure up to each other.
             .
Jerry Fletcher and Holden Caulfield have some relationship with each other. They compare in several ways. Holden feels as if he is trapped and is exclude and victimized by the whole world around him. And throughout the book he is trying his own ways to find what he has that makes him belong in this world. He has uniqueness to him and he uses isolation as a resort of that he is far off better than all the human beings around him. But yet with that in his mind he still interacts with people. Just like the Character Jerry Fletcher, he acts if he knows everything. He also keeps himself secluded in the safety of his own home. For example he is very cautious of people coming into his home. His door is latched with endless deadbolt locks and still he puts a glass beer bottle balance with its own life on the door knob to catch even a little tap onto the door. Jerry is a cab driver which indicated that he socializes with many people most of the day when he is working. He has odd relationships with people around the city and working in New York a vast amount of people comes through there day in and day out. Jerry Fletcher and Holden Caulfield share the same sense for other people. They seem to always have something to say and there isn't one genre or subject that they don't have an opinion on. They use talking and self expressing themselves an assurance to their being. Dominance and Superiority serve as a self protection to Jerry and Holden.
