Politics Reflective Paper
When this topic was proposed I was not entirely certain as to how I would address it. I was not sure of my own role within world politics and as a result, addressing the topic seemed almost impossible. It was after much thought and further research that I discovered that I do play an integral role in world politics. International relations in terms of politics are affected by economics. As a member of a population within a nation that is within a vast world, I participate in many daily functions of life that affects the world’s economy. Living in a democratic state allows for my own further growth as an individual involved in world politics. In other words, my participation and contributions to this sector of the world is continuous. Already, as a college student I have been able to make contributions and involve myself in activities that have impacted our global economy, which in turn has affected our political systems. Throughout this paper, I will unveil and discuss my newly discovered relation with world politics and its systems of power. . I represent a large number of nonstate actors known as substate economic actors because of my current role as a consumer in the world’s economy. Consumption is on
The media is another way in which I have been able to participate in world politics. There are several media outlets which aid in influencing my knowledge and beliefs about international politics. News stations such as CNN are most influential to me because of the limited amount of biased information that is used in their reports. I believe that most of their information is based on fact rather than individual opinion as most news reports tend to be. I take the information that is reported and I will draw comparisons between their information with the information that I have drawn for myself. The information that I believe is most factual in other media sources is what I use as a tool to compare with new reports that I hear or read. Most news station takes its own biased approach therefore I look for the hard facts within each story before making my own conclusions. Radio Stations and newspapers are other good sources of information for global politics. Much of the knowledge in which I acquire from these sources helps me in becoming a stronger advocate for or against many issues and actions in which our world is faced. I advocate my beliefs whenever I am engaged in conversations about specific topics that I feel strongly about. This occurs with the most likely of people such as family and friends; and the least likely such as co-workers. The media has influenced my consumer habits as well as my voting habits. It is an important source of information when used wisely and not looked at as being definitive. Through analysis of my role as an actor in world politics, I have a more concrete understanding of the importance of the role that individual parties play. Though a group of individuals have more power than an individual, the group requires the individual. For this reason advocacy is important. It is not necessary to be a part of a governmental agency to be involved in world politics. The government serves as our representatives, our spokespersons; but many of the decisions and choices are in our hands. Throughout our daily lives we are contributing in some way to world politics. As a result of these unintentional actions, those like myself, substate economic actors, have a wide array of possibilities in terms of helping to make a differen
