On March 4, 1789 the U.S. constitution had come into effect (CIA). Which is the bases of what we now know as the United States government. The United States of America (U.S.) is an example of a democratic government. It is broken up into different levels of government and has three different branches so that one would not be more powerful than the other. The three branches are executive, legislative, and judicial.

Executive branch consists of the President which is both the chief of state and head of government, Presidents cabinet which would be approved by the Senate, and the Vice President. Legislative power resides with the King and the parliament, which consist in a 40 member upper house, the Senators, and an 80 member lower house the, deputies (Embassy of...). The King appoints the members of the upper house, while deputies are directly elected by national suffrage, with men and women over the age of 18 that are eligible to vote. In the Judicial branch courts are divided into three categories regular courts: courts of first instance, magistrate courts, courts of appeal, and the court of cassation/high court of justice; religious courts: Shari’a courts, and Council of Religious Communities; and special courts: courts that deal with cases outside the jurisdiction of regular courts, such as the police court, military councils, the customs court, or the state security court (Embassy of...).
