In my nineteen years of life, I have had a lot of people influence me, but the three who stand out are my mom, my high school coach and my grandmother. Growing up, I wasn't always the good kid. I did a lot of bad things that caused me to get kicked out school. Every action that I was taking was leading me down the wrong path - and I was heading to either jail or an early death. With the help of my positive influences, I made it.
It started in elementary school. I grew up in the ghetto where all I knew was people who bought, sold and used drugs. My mom dated a drug dealer so that the environment I was around. Although my mother knew how she needed to raise me, I continually made bad decisions. I failed the fourth grade because of bad conduct even though I was an honor roll student. That's when things became serious. My mother then transferred me to a private school where it was more diverse and offered a wide variety of sports. My last school didn't have sports so I was out on the street half the time. She then explained to me how important school was an how I need a good education to get a nice job. So I took on sports and I became more focused in the class room. It became more of a passion to me.
As I got to high school, it was a culture shock for me, so I went back to my old ways of skipping class and failing but I was still playing football. My sophomore my head coach was fired and replace with a new clean cut guy name Trey Herrmann. Trey first day on the job he informed us on how important grades were for the guys who wanted to play college football. He pulled me to the side and told me he thought I was a great athlete but if I don't fix some things my last time playing football will be at Bellaire High School. Coach Herrmann motivated me so much I didn't fail another class my whole high school career and I appreciate him for that. The reason why I'm at Cisco and not in the division one playing football is because I didn't get my NCAA Clearing House complete in time after working my butt off to get qualified after failing all those classes freshmen year.
