Samuel Adams

I was born in Boston Massachusetts on September 27, 1722 at noon on the Sabbath. I was one of the twelve children my father and mother had. My father’s name was Samuel Adams and my mother’s name was Mary Fifield Adams. The name my parents gave me is Samuel Adams.

My family is wealthy and an influence to other people. My father owned a large estate. The house we lived in was a mansion fronting the harbor. My father was always a leader and from him I inherited his political tastes. He wanted me to become a clergyman. Our family owns a brewing company. When my father died I was in charge of the brewery. We don’t own any slaves. I am very relatively youthful at this time.

The schooling I had was that I was educated at Boston Latin School. Then I went to Harvard. I was very fond of quoting Greek and Latin. I graduated fifth in my class and my cousin John Adams graduated sixteenth in the class. The year I graduated Harvard is 1740. After I graduated I started to study law.
