             There are many different teaching methods for elementary schools and Project Based Learning will teach more social and emotional skills than the standard curriculum in elementary age children. Many case studies have been conducted to determine whether standard teaching or Project Based Learning has long lasting effects and why. Teaching has to evolve just like technology, this allows for students be more independent and prepare for the real world. .

             Project Based Learning - A Better Choice.
             In one elementary school classroom a teacher is using building blocks as a math lesson with all the students around on the floor. The students each have a separate block with a number from 1 to 10. As a group the students have to stack the blocks in order. The teacher sits back and watches the students as they have to work together to put the blocks in order. While in an adjacent classroom another teacher is using a math book to teach her students to count 1 to 10. The teacher says the number and points to it on the page and has the students repeat it and so on. In observation of both classrooms the first scenario the students are very engaged, working together and happy which is quite different from the second classroom. In the second classroom some students are lost or simply just not paying attention. The two teaching methods are very different and are a hot topic with educators. The first is called Project Based Learning and it will teach more social and emotional skills than the standard curriculum in elementary age children. .
             Project Based Learning (PBL) is an organized teaching method that engages students in learning knowledge and skills through an extended inquiry process structured around difficult, realistic questions and carefully designed tasks. This process can last for varying time periods and can extend over multiple content areas. PjBL started many years ago when people learned by doing, such as Einstein.
