Conservatoire Acceptance Paper - Questions and Answers

This assignment is mostly for you to think about where you are right now in terms of your current skills and where you want your studies to take you, short term and long term. You are going to use this initial work at the end of the year to help you look back on what you have done, reflect on what you have achieved, and think about how you can develop your plans and continue to progress next year.
             Assignment.
Please answer all five of the questions below. Overall, we would expect most people to write around 1000 -1500 words on this assignment. We assess this assignment on their being evidence that you have done the reading and preparatory exercises (so do refer to those in what you write); and on evidence that you can analyse and reflect on your skills and link these to your goals.
             1. Long-Term Goals.
             Question.
Do you have a long term career goal? Where do you hope to be in five or ten years' time? How does choosing to come to a Conservatoire to study music fit in with that goal?.
             Response.
I started playing the guitar in the age of 5 and I was really amazed how this instrument changed my life. Since I was kid without second thoughts I realised that that's what I really wanted to do my whole life. I wanted to pursue my dream of becoming a well-known guitar player. I studied at Pancyprian Gymnasium (Lyceum) and at the same time at the Music School of Nicosia graduating with the highest guitar performance degree. During my studies at the Music School I was really attracted to Harmony. I understood the meaning of music with Harmony because you learn the chords, how chords are connected to themselves. Being at the Conservatoire is something really amazing; you can learn a lot of new things which you did not know. I see myself in 5 or 10 ten years being a well-known guitar player because in my country there are no potentials like those in UK. I want to perform in big halls, make concerts so that people get to know me as a recognised musician.
