In the words of the great children's author, Dr. All the people who are in it are troubled with troubles almost every minute." What one may deem as unimportant can be of importance and troubling to another. Troubles are values to an individual that they feel to be threatening. Issues involve a crisis and tend to be public matters. It is when some value cherished by public is felt to be threatened. In "The Promise" by C. Wright Mills, he informs the reader that public issues can be turned and seen as public troubles. He links people to their personal stresses. He introduces broader structures as a whole. Sociology plays a significant role in understanding who we are as well as who others are. Understanding sociology helps you learn to ask questions that go beyond "common sense." It helps us make sense of complicated troubles and issues. When one looks at society from a Sociological Perspective, they are able to see the general in the particular, to see the strange in the familiar and finally, to see the individuality in social context. Society and human behavior is always evolving. Everyone has a story, but when we are able to hear or discover these stories, is when we realize there is so much beauty in this world. I interviewed my neighbor because I wanted to know her story. Grace Charlotte Akins was like every other teenager in London at the time. She loved to have fun and just wanted to enjoy her youth. Her motto was; "Party young, live later." This was a time when many were concerned about the lifestyle the younger generation was living. It was all about drugs, punk rock, and partying.
In 1975, Britain was in recession. The tabloids and newspapers were printing stories of vandalism, education, pornography, and sexuality in general. The young people grew up in a climate where they wanted to explode. They had a mixture of feelings of frustration, boredom and anger.
