Reasons to Legalize Cannabis (Marijuana)


            
             I am going to be presenting the argument for and against cannabis use. According to the Home Office statistics for 2013 cannabis is the most commonly used drug which 6.4% of adults aged 16-59 using it. Nowadays most young people will have tried some sort of drug either at a club, party, bar or most commonly at a disco. Cannabis is all over the world and comes from the Indian hemp plant. Cannabis is smoked for the effects it has on the brain. It is primarily a depressant drug, however it has hallucinogenic effects. .
             What is Cannabis?.
             Cannabis is a member of the nettle family that has grown wild throughout the world for centuries. Both plants have been used for a variety of different purposes including hemp to make rope and textiles, as a medical herb and as the popular reaction drug. Cannabis is a green, brown, grey or black substance mixed with the dried out leaves from the hemp plant. Cannabis is a stimulant and acts as euphoria, when you get this 'euphoria' your blood pressure and your heart rate rises. Marijuana can be rolled up into a joint and smoked and can be smoked rolled up in a cigar and can be smoked in a pipe (Bong). Some people may feel chilled out, relaxed and happy while others feel sick and puffy. Others get the giggles and may become talkative. Hunger pangs are commonly known as the 'Munchies'. Users become more aware of their senses or others feel that time is slowing down these feelings are due to hallucinogenic effect.

             Keeping this drug illegal is not stopping people take/using cannabis. Cannabis is a gateway drug meaning that this drug will be the start of stronger and more dangerous drug i.e. cocaine. A new study shows that Schizophrenia is now coming into act with smoking marijuana, just smoking a single joint will increase the chances of Schizophrenia by 40%. Smoking a joint will increase the chances of mental health and schizophrenia. Marijuana can make it hard for you to think and to know what you were doing.
