Throughout the three stories of Macbeth by William Shakespeare, Anthem by Ayn Rand and Fahrenheit 451 by Ray Bradbury, many of these truths are brought to light. Macbeth is a play of contradiction and ambition. Driven to becoming King, Macbeth will kill all and any that get in his way. He puts his faith in the words and prophecies of three witches, after their first one (that he will become Thane of Cawdor) comes through. This blind faith is what ultimately leads to his demise. Anthem is a book which explores the deep complexities of ruling a communist society in which the world individualism and ego do no exist. The book follows Equality 7-2521 and his journey as he struggles to live in a society where he just does not fit. He is too smart , too curious, too much for the council to handle and brainwash. During his journey he discovers the many flaws of his society and by the end he decides that he can never be a part of it. As he runs away to a place isolated from all others to start a new society. He desires a society that values the concepts of individualism and ego. Fahrenheit 451 is a very similar story to Anthem, It follows Guy Montag a firefighter. Firefighters that instead of stopping fires, start them by setting books ablaze. His blurred vision of society is chanced however by a teenager named Clarisse, who comes into his life and makes him question his morals and his outlook. After Clarisse mysteriously disappears, Montag turns to books out of curiosity. After he understands the power of books and choses to try and educate others on the importance that they hold. This plan however, backfires on him and forces him to kill his old mentor, After that fe is forced flee the city to find other booklovers such as him and live with them. These stories contain many examples of how arrogant actions have bad consequences. They also show that a government should not be run by fear and the elimination of freedom.
