             In today's society we are damaged with events considered "out of our control " which can result in a traumatic event. Traumatic events are experiences that cause physical, emotional, psychological distress, or harm; This event is perceived and experienced as a threat to one's safety or to the stability of one's world (University of Maryland Medical Center, 2014).Succeeding the experience or witnessing of serious events such as military combat, terrorist incidents, or physical or sexual assault in adult or childhood describes the psychiatric illness known as Posttraumatic Stress Disorder("Post Traumatic Stress Disorder"). This disorder is also defined by the American Psychiatric Association as knowledge beyond "the range of usual human experience, which would be markedly distressing to almost anyone " (American Psychiatric Association, 2013). The experience suffered with intense fear, terror and helplessness. .
             People with PTSD experience three different kinds of symptoms ("Post Traumatic Stress Disorder"). One set of symptoms allows one to encounter a personal experience while undergoing a frightening experience. When confronted they become upset and causes them to be very distressed. Another symptom of PTSD is isolation from other people. This isolation permits them to remember the past trauma encountering numbness in their life. The final symptom is aggression ("Post Traumatic Stress Disorder"). This makes a person feel easily defensive, short-tempered, and overwhelmed. According to the Nebraska Department of Veterans' Affairs, "An estimated 7.8 percent of Americans will experience PTSD at some point in their lives. " 10.4% of women are twice as likely to develop PTSD as the 5% of men faced with traumatic experiences. U.S. adults, aged in range of 18 to 54 have experienced PTSD throughout the course of a given year ("Post Traumatic Stress Disorder"). This is 3.6% of the U.S. population which is about 5.
