Relationships

Relationships with the opposite sex are complex, and very unique. In this paper I hope to cover the main areas of this complex subject. I will address the stages of dating, the four types of chemistry between dating partners, unhealthy chemistry in women, various types of bad relationships, commitment, engagement and marriage.

I will begin with the most natural start of male/female relationships, dating. John Gray PH.D., author of Mars &Venus on a Date, has established five(5) stages of dating. The five stages are attraction, uncertainty, commitment, intimacy, and engagement. In Stage one (1) you should make sure, you get the opportunity to express your attraction and get to know a potential partner. Stage two (2) shifts from attraction to feeling uncertain that they are right for you. You must recognize this feeling as normal and not to be swayed by it. Stage three (3) is the stage at which exclusively dating is implemented. Danger, in this stage, you may become too comfortable and stop doing the little things that make your partner feel special. Stage four (4) consists of real intimacy, and stage five (5) is that of the celebration of love. Many couples make the mistake of rushing into getting married. It is v

Marriage is a choice, but not like any other choice. Choosing a soul mate is not a mental decision based on the pros and cons of a relationship. It is not an emotional decision based on comparing how they make you feel. It’s not a physical decision based on looks, it is much deeper. When our soul wants to get married, it feels as if we have no choice. We have to do it if we are to be true to ourselves.[pg23-24a] To find a soul mate, not just a secure partner, takes new insight, education and lots of practice. With this kind of support, you can develop your ability to navigate through the five stages of dating to experience true and lasting love.[a]

When we end a relationship with resentment or guilt we are attracted to someone who will help us deal with unresolved feelings and issues.[pg13a] How you end a relationship has an enormous impact on the quality of your next relationship. Good endings make good beginnings. The person who feels most rejected or abandoned feels resentful. The rejecter feels guilt.[pg12a] Many women express, or feel fearful of being alone, which commonly is defined as not being in a relationship. Basically the need to be with a man, any man, all the time is an addiction, that provides a sense of false security and false self-esteem.[pg34b]

According to Health Day News as couples exchange marriage vows, many couples picture a life of perpetual bliss. But new research shows that although it seems to boost life satisfaction by a slight degree, how blissfully happy couples find themselves after they tie the knot has a lot to do with how satisfied with life they were before they wed. People who tend to be happy before they marry are likely to find they are happy afterwards, and people who are less satisfied with their life before marriage are likely to remain so, says a study in the March issue of the Journal of Personality and Social Psychology. People adapt to new circumstances, explains study author Richard E. Lucas, an assistant professor of psychology at Michigan State University in East Lansing. "The people who do get married were happier than average before they married," he notes, which also suggests that being an upbeat person makes you more likely to marry. On the flip side, when those who are generally not very happy do marry, they report more of a rise in their happiness level, the study found. This may be because they were lonely and stand to gain more from the union than a happy person who has always had many social contacts, the researchers suggest.[e]

ital to take time to gather positive experiences of sharing together and resolving disagreements and disappointments before the big challenge of being married, moving in together and having a family. Moving through the five stages of dating creates the right conditions for you to develop the ability to “just know” when the right person comes along. It also allows you to “just know” when you are with the wrong person. [pg17a]

Author Rachel Safier notes that women seem more likely to call things off at the eleventh hour than men. The reason? Women find it harder to say no in the first place. "Who actually says no to a proposal in the moment? Almost nobody."[d] When you become engaged too quickly, when you’ve got the ring and announced to the world that you are getting married and then you begin seeing things about your fiancé’ that are totally unacceptable, it’s profoundly embarrassing to do what you know you need to do, which is to get out at any cost.[pg41b] Currently, only 15 per cent of American engagements are broken -- a surprisingly low number if you consider today's soaring divorce rate.[d] Frankly, it's a wonder more couples don't call things off in the first place. It's the better way, according to Rachel Safier. The 33-year-old New York native started writing her recently published guide to getting un-fian
