The Effects of Pre-Trail Educational Briefing

            
             During my time interning at a local District Attorney's office, I observed various different aspects of the criminal justice system at work. This paper will explain some of the discrepancies I believed to observe, the concern and evaluation of the system, and the solution and implications that could be placed in play to alleviate the problems. I will also cover research done to attain the information discussed to use as an evaluation tool to understand the correlation; if any, with the observed problem.

             Preparedness and Verdict Percentage.
             The definition of justice has always been one that perplexed our criminal justice system since the beginning of time. As a student I have grown to believe that the criminal justice system operates in a well ordered systematic matter with no grey areas. This thought process is what has been taught to me from the books of our society's school curriculum. As a student I spent most of my time learning through books and from that which was taught from teachers. Upon my last semester of college I was enrolled into the internship program which was a requirement in order for me to graduate. I got accepted to intern at the local District Attorney's office to observe and evaluate the knowledge I learned put into a real world setting. During my interning I would go to the courthouse with the assigned ADA's and observe inside the courtroom. I was astonished not only by all the knowledge that I gained through experiential learning but also of how in fact "grey area" the criminal justice system was.
             On one occasion during the observation of a civil trial, I noticed the lack of understanding between the two parties; who both were being represented pro-se, of the courtroom setting as a whole. The individuals, who were both seeking restitution on a matter that I perceived as legit in matter, did not understand many things during their trail.
