From My Perspective - The Tragedy of 9/11

I was almost seventeen and lived back home in Iran. My family and I were talking about how beautiful that summer was. My dad suddenly decided to turn on the TV and we stopped talking. We just watched the news that showed an aircraft crashed in to the World Trade Center. The building was appearing to be on fire and just a few minutes later the second plane hit, and it was immediately clear that it was no accidents. We were shocked and did not know what has happened exactly. We followed the news and watched the video that showed many people trying to get out of the building and they did whatever they thought necessary to survive. I saw people who tried to fling themselves from different floors of the building. It was very painful when I saw how two buildings collapsed. We did not have any family or friends in New York back at that time, but my mom and I were crying when we were watching the video of the crash from TV. We were so sad for all those who lost their loved ones. I was thinking of the people who had relatives or friends working in the buildings and that what they felt then. They did not even know what has happened to their loved ones, and what they are going through. Maybe they were all hoping that their loved ones were still alive somewhere in the building trying to get out. .
I was then thinking of the passengers of those airplanes. I was thinking if they knew what was happening in the last seconds and how they felt when they realized that the plane was hijacked. I asked myself if they even saw the airplane getting so close to the buildings. Even the thoughts were frightening.
Then I thought of the ones who worked in the building. It must have been like any other day at work. Many of them might had plans for that day, lunch plan, after work drinks or even a retirement party. Who knows what was in their minds when this terrible attack happened. But I was wondering if they really saw the aircraft coming to them.
