There is a serious problem with violence when kids bring guns to school. There has been numerous shootings in high schools in my area. There cannot be a sports game or a big event such as a band to come to the school to play without a shooting or a fight breaking out. Especially during the night time after twelve. There has even been shootings on homecoming at high schools when they had to dress up. It is just getting ridiculous almost all of these take place in public schools but some take place in private. My public school largo highschool is one of the worst, but luckily I went to a private school. People are scared of teenagers and parents are going broke because they refuse to send their kids to a public school. They send their kids to a private school which they can barely afford. I plan to help solve this problem by getting in the teenagers’ minds. That’s where the main problem starts. Being a teenager I would know. A lot of it I am sorry to say comes from music and movies and tv. I can’t change that, but I can change how teenagers view it. I could express to them that most of these guys they see are not thugs and that it is just for show. I could help them realize that such things like getting caught with a gun happens because maybe these guys are paranoid because they are superstars and are afraid somebody might attack them. The other is to show them you want to be more than the most popular in high school or a thug. Show them I am an example of success and that they can have so much more. A problem is a lot of these teenagers have no confidence in themselves and nobody except maybe their parents have told them what they can do. Therefor they have no goals or belief. I could show them that blacks need more than entertainers. That we should not be stereotyped like this. Then try to intimidate them by showing them the effects of teenagers who got caught up in violence. Even show them the kids who just got caught up in violence one time.
