Narrative Essay - Gaining Confidence

Growing up, I knew I wanted to shine amongst my fellow peers so I set goals and strove for what I thought could be possible. Having that mentality encourage me to become part of something big, Student Government Association. My high school at the time lack pride and school spirit, but I had an idea that could help bring back my school's lost fortune. .
I wanted to up the ante, show everyone that I had what it takes to make a true change. This influence my running for Student Government Association's Vice-President. I faced one problem running for the position, and it was the speech; the speech that would captivate the student body, the speech that would make or break me to become the Vice-President of my school. .
I wasn't the best writer. It was a challenging for me to put my all into a piece of writing. Usually I just bluff and make up a story that sounds legit to write; however, this was a different scenario. I have to come up with a speech that would make the student body believe that I had what it takes to make a change that other candidates couldn't. 3 days till the election. I was up all night trying to put words together, to create the perfect speech. I started writing a couple of words; five minutes later it was paragraph; yet, it still wasn't good enough to me. I'm not the type of person that seeks help for anything. I try my best to complete the task by myself and when that turns out to have a negative outcome then that's a sign to call help. I brought my English teacher my speech. He didn't hesitate to read the speech. He took it from my hands and began reading it immediately. I saw his facial expression change while he was reading it. I automatically thought I failed at writing what I thought was a speech. He paused for two minutes before giving me his opinion, "Your speech is the best piece you ever written," he said. I was shocked and we left it as that.
The day of the election arrive; the auditorium was filled with students waiting to hear what the potential office would have to say.
