Biography of Saint Francis of Assisi

Saint Francis of Assisi was born in Italy circa 1181. Francis's father returned from his trip to France to find out that his wife has given birth to a son. Instead of being excited or apologetic for missing such a huge event Pietro Bernardone was furious for his wife has baptized his son when the last thing he wanted was the man of God in him, and renamed him Francesco; which was equivalent to calling him a Frenchman.
Because of his father's wealth Francis enjoyed a rich easy life growing up. Everyone loved Francis for his constantly charming and happy persona. As Francis grew up he became the leader of a crowd of youngsters who spent nights at wild parties. Those were the days where Francis lived in sin. Francis fulfilled his father's hopes which included falling in love with France, and despite his dreaming Francis was good a business. Though Francis wanted more than wealth, but not holiness. Francis wanted to be a noble knight! Battle was the place to win the glory he longed for. Francis got his first chance when Assisi declared war on their longtime enemy, the nearby town of Perugia.
Francis was among the nobility like he wished but was chained to a harsh dark dungeon. Though he never lost his happy manner. Finally after a year in the dungeon, Francis was ransomed. Strangely the experience didn't seem to have a toll on him. He continued giving himself away to parties as her did before the battle. Nor did the experience change what he wanted from life either: Glory. A call for knight for the 4th crusade gave him yet another chance. Francis set off but didn't make it far. Francis had a dream that involved God, in which he tells him that he has done wrong and to return home. But upon returning home he was humiliated laughed at, called a coward by the village for not even making it into battle and was also raged at by his father who had spent a great sum on his armor.
Since then Francis spent time in prayer, occasionally going off to a cave to weep for his sins.
