Magnetic Hegemony in East Asia

Hegemony occurs when a civilizations chooses to extends its cultural, social, economic, and political influence over other nations within the international community. Between the periods of 600 to 1450 CE, it was difficult and impossible for one nation to entirely dominate the globe due to the distances and the lack of communication and resources to support empires to sustain their newly conquered lands and civilians. For example, both the Mongol Empire and Islamic caliphates regime fell down in shambles due to the empires' inability to effectively control their large land space. Therefore, during this time period and because of the obstacles and hindrances relating the the time period, a powerful empire could best establish and occupy a strong regional hegemony. The nation of China was the most powerful and richest empire of them all which this nation extended its regime over most of Asia.  According to Professor Victor Magana, magnetic hegemony "is the underlying idea of East Asian theory of practice of International Relations" (Professor Magana, 2014). To define this term, one must remember the definition of hegemony which is the "predominance of power that now acts like a magnet that draws two lesser powers but powers none of the less are powerful and do have an interest of an outcome and management of an international system" ( Professor Magana, 2014). This is the last level of property order that provides a necessary framework of international stability. Magnetic hegemony is the primary management strategy of Confucian Solution in which as compared to other management utilized in this era such as the expansion to universal empire and the Great Wall Strategy.
