American Society
The United States is a great and strong country made up of about three million populations. The population, Americans, usually defined as citizens of the United States. However, it is hard to distinguish as they are without a common heritage, ethnicity, or lineage. Therefore Americans should be precisely defined through their common characteristics. It is the characteristics that distinguish them from other people around the world by its equality, goals, and the pursuit of happiness. Americans are taught by the Declaration of Independence that ¡§All men are created equal.¡¨ Since it has become a necessary part of Americans¡¦ belief, equality is always something that they strive to provide and maintain. That is, all races and genders share equal opportunities provided by the society. When we look back to the past, there is no doubt that African Americans faced the barrier of race, or color prejudice in the past; Chinese, and other Asian Americans were discriminated in the society, the workplace, the school, and the neighborhood. None of these should be surprising; they are parts of history. Meanwhile, Americans eliminate the problem, but the fact is segregation and discrimination is unavoidable in every society in the world
Life is vivid and creative, especially here in the United States. Americans can enjoy their rights from equality, belief in dream and hope always, and to pursue happiness any way they want. They are to make the United States a better and stronger country. Opportunities are everywhere for the American to fulfill their dreams. Americans are self-ruled, self-determinate, and self-confident, to me, a little bit self-admirable. Everyone is searching for their dream and opportunities in the land of freedom, in other words, to pursue happiness through strenuous effort. Life and liberty in the American society allow people to pursue happiness any way they wish. Happiness can be from anything; either becoming rich enough to get all you want, getting good grade in school, being accepted by the society, having a perfect mate, or even having a shelter to stay can be reasons of being happy. Some people may not be rich; they may not have a nice car to drive, a big house to live in, or can not afford their children to study in private schools. On the other hand, comparing to those who are really wealthy, they may just sitting in the office for a few hours and earn a million dollars, driving a Mercedes, or living in a house with seven gardens. Wealthy people have their own ways to pursue happiness and so do the poor. Happiness of rich people can be from money investing, buying new cars every month, riding horses in weekends or buying a $2000 jacket; anyhow othe
