Research on the Cold War

The Cold War had an effect upon many countries; not only the United States and the Soviet Union. This is revealed through documents such as he Statement by Soviet Union that a U.S. Attack on Cuba Would Mean Nuclear War September 11, 1962, Guatemalan Execution List, and Operation PBSUCCESS 1952-1954. Countries such as Cuba and Guatemala were affected socially, politically, and economically by the Cold War. In the Statement by USSR that a U.S. Attack on Cuba Would Mean Nuclear War, the Soviet government speaks to all governments during the Cold War in 1962. The USSR did not want nuclear war to occur and realized that the world needed to live in peace. This document was produced as a statement to bring to realization the fact that a U.S. attack on Cuba would mean nuclear was, and the USSR can't afford for that to occur. The USSR wishes to gain friendship from all the governments of the world and establish world peace. The document proves that the USSR would benefit from good relationships all over the globe and would be annihilated "if a universal world war with the use of thermonuclear weapons" were to occur. .
Cuba was affected socially by the cold war. It was put in the center of war between the U.S. and the Soviet Union. The Soviet Union, "could not fail to take account of the situation in which Cuba had found itself as a result of imperialist provocations and threats, and Soviet ships carry to Cuba the goods she needs and return with commodities she has in abundance which the United States has refused to buy in the hope of undermining the economy of the Cuban Republic" (Statement, 3). In this statement, the Soviet Union accuses the United States of attempting to undermine the Cuban Republic while claiming that its own country actually helped Cuba. This blunt accusation is example of the war waging between the US and USSR. Cuba was also affected by the US blockade, which prevented them from importing or exporting goods and other things.
