Leaving Home to Find Home

As an independent young man, I am able to locate the understanding of my own home. Today I live on my own, go to school full-time, and work part-time. Once I moved out of my parent's house, I expected it to be hard since there are no more individuals to be dependent on anymore since it is my time to be responsible for now on. Firstly, during the process of finding my own understanding of home, I have come to understand the transitioning between different levels of responsibilities can be very difficult and overwhelming. Secondly, thinking back to the days I confidently said to my parent's which I could not wait until I moved out on my own and achieve what ever I wanted eventually caused me to forget about considering all the factors independent living. Consequently, I found myself not fully happy with my decision to move out of my parent's house at the age of 18. For example, I had imagined living on my own to be less complex and not as much hard work since I would have roommates who would take the sibling role in my family. Therefore, I spent plenty of nights unhappily stressing about how I would survive the next day or when would be the next time I was able to see my family. All in all, the process of obtaining my own understanding of home comes along with many more responsibilities and roles in which I need to fulfill. .
Responsibilities are consistently enforced within my family due it's importance in today's world. "There is variation in relation to the rights and responsibilities young people have at home" (Lahelma & Gordon 387). Responsibilities appear in many different forms which eventually shape us as individuals in society. The most common responsibilities within a family are having to complete a chore, this helps families function and communicate with one another. In addition, my role at my parent's house is not as strictly enforcing as opposed to my role I am responsible for when at my own house.
