The Drone Threat in America

Imagine one day you are sitting in your house relaxing after a long day of work. The kids are upstairs doing their homework and you can smell dinner being prepared in the other room. Suddenly, you are thrown from your chair onto the coffee table and knocked unconscious, only to wake up in the hospital a week later just to learn that your family and your home have been destroyed. Stories like this are innocent human's experiences in Pakistan and many other countries in the Middle East. A deadly missile fired by an unmanned aircraft, controlled by a pilot sitting on United States soil, right into your kitchen. These unmanned aircraft are better known as drones by the media.
Drones, as well as the missiles propelled from them, perform highly destructive missions with very little regard for human life. In my opinion, the use of drones should not be allowed as an official option for the president to use at his discretion to rid of American enemies. The term "enemies" is a very broad statement in itself. Enemies could be considered anyone who has ever wrongfully opposed America directly or anybody associated to them. The use of drones may be seen as unjust due to the fact that they can wipe out entire city blocks in the blink of an eye, bringing injury and death to innocent bystanders. They reduce the number of boots on the foreign soil causing more issues and lowering it is the amount of available jobs in the U.S. Military. In the end, it comes down to the question of whether it is just or not to risk the public safety of foreign countries to save our country's soldiers. .
According to Eugene Robinson in his article "The emerging 'drone' culture" from the Washington Post editorial, "It is known that for every one enemy a drone may kill, it is also killing 42 other innocent bystanders.". Videos or pictures of dead children, mothers, fathers, brothers, sisters and the elderly could be very eye-opening to the American society if they decided to ever show the negative side-effects of these drone use.
