Bridges Program - Experience in Nigeria

I am ____, born on ____, ___ in Our Lady of Mercy Hospital in the Bronx borough of New York City. I am Nigerian (as you may have picked up from the strange names that can't be identified on Microsoft word spell check). I have spent twelve years of my life in three different boroughs of New York City, but one of the many factors that makes me a different case is the fact that I spent the remaining six years of my life in the capital of Nigeria, Abuja. These six years enabled me to find individuality, as I attended the American International School of Abuja with diverse cultures that come and go along the years. .
Within this school, as both a student and an individual, I find many strengths and weaknesses within myself. I am gifted with talent and creativity. I have been playing the drums since I was six and this has given me an open mind to the different ways it is played around the world. This strength can also become a weakness when I cannot stay focused on the task at hand. When we are encouraged to brainstorm ideas, I feel like my brain goes all over the place and cannot focus on one main idea. This translates into my academics where I start off well in terms of using the ideas I have decided to study and complete work. As time goes on, I change techniques and in the process, blame my bad grades on transitioning between them, rather than ways to improve. My study skills are weak and I feel that the Bridges program will assist me in improving those to get me ready for college. .
My goals are to have a job that makes a steady enough income to first of all provide for my family, give back to many communities, travel the world, as well as open numerous businesses. I hope after many years of rigorous training to practice pharmacy as a profession. I plan to move to Nigeria with my family and make it a better place by opening not just a pharmacy, but rather a mall with goods that people will need.
