Children and High Cholesterol

Over the decades it appeared that only adults were being diagnosed with cardiovascular disease, but more recently the number of children being diagnosed with cardiovascular disease is greatly increasing. But what is the cause of this earlier development of cardiovascular disease in children? "Cardiovascular disease in the United States is responsible for first place in mortality among the population."[Lio10] Now adults are not the only people affected by high cholesterol. Children also may have high levels of cholesterol, which can cause health problems when the child gets older. High cholesterol leads to the build-up of plaque on the walls of the arteries, which supply blood to the heart and other organs. Plaque can narrow the arteries and block the blood flow to the heart, causing heart problems and stroke. Therefore it is important parents are educated about early medical screening to detect and reduce cholesterol levels by maintaining a proper nutritional pattern. How? Decreasing levels of saturated fatty acids SFA, totals levels of fat, and consuming only enough calories to maintain an ideal weight. Besides doing exercise routines that will help keep children heart and body.
To understand this evil it's necessary to know what cholesterol is:" Cholesterol is a waxy substance produced by the body and found in foods that come from animals. Cholesterol is needed by your body to make hormones, skin oils, digestive juices and vitamin D. You could not live without some cholesterol in your body. However, too much cholesterol is a major risk factor for heart disease, particularly LDL (low density lipoprotein) Cholesterol LDL causes the build-up of fatty deposits within your arteries, reducing or blocking the flow of blood and oxygen to your heart."[Eri00]"High cholesterol is associated with an elevated risk of cardiovascular disease, which can include coronary heart disease, stroke, and peripheral vascular disease.
