When praying, man should be aware that Allah accepts all sincere prayers. He will always be near and respond to the believer that fully trusts and does not doubt Him. By praying often, man is repeatedly asking for Allah’s guidance. Worshipping to Allah alone, and only turning to Him for help, guides man to the straight path. Also with prayers, man is continually renewing his covenant with Allah. By swearing in His name, man is making Allah his surety. Man must then realize that if he keeps his pledge, Allah will richly reward him because He has knowledge of all his actions. But if man breaks his oath, he breaks it at his own peril.

Giving up prayer is an explicit form of abandoning Allah. It shows that the soul is disobedient and fumbling. It no longer is in reach of the divine goal, Allah. This leaves harmful and negative effects on the soul. The soul starts to live with a feeling of separation from Allah and persistently searches in vain for an alternative for serenity and bliss. Consequently, it is necessary to maintain prayers so that man will not bring upon himself the misfortune of being distant from Allah. Man should always pray and “stand up with all devotion before [Allah].”

If prayer is nothing more than automatic actions and soulless physical movements, then it has no meaning at all. Prayer can only achieve its distinct goals if the worshipper is not only physically, but also spiritually present. Man must deeply realize the value of the position of standing in front of Allah. Only then will the soul absorb the true meaning of prayer psychologically, spiritually and morally. The soul then submits to Allah and feels love for Him, wanting to please Him with all its actions. Man with a soul that is able to do this is a true believer. If he can be humble in his prayers then he will surely be successful.
