Creation in its essence is an imperative occurrence that takes place within the core of a being whether it may be mortal or otherwise. Many believe God created man and in other countries by one who has God-like qualities. In Nikki Giovanni’s poem, Ego Tripping: there may be a reason why, she expresses creation as a form of perfection, religion, and life.
Giovanni embodies perfection in every character and occurrence in her poem to express creation. Perfection is in the eye of the beholder as perfection is a vision of what oneself and surrounding could be. “The hair from my head thinned and gold was laid across three continents”(line45-46). Here she gives a vivid description, turning nothing into something, which produces an image of her perfection. Even in Giovanni’s imperfectious moments she creates, justifying that her errors are correct. “On a trip north I caught a cold and blew my nose giving oil to the arab world”(line39-41).
