Technology is Killing Music

In my time so far at HSRA, I have learned many things about music and its forms and applications. That being said, I find that the most revolutionary thing in the music industry to also be its worst enemy. Technology is helping many things in the industry from an outside point of view, but there are many things it is hindering. For instance, electronic instruments are emotionless and bland. New editing software is opening the gates to shit artists that need to stay as far away from music as possible. Quite possibly the worst thing that it does is it broods laziness, and instrumentation is becoming rare which should not be allowed in an industry as cutthroat as this one.
Now I know that after reading that title you're saying "But you make beats!" and it is true, I do produce beats. I also have been known to listen to the occasional RL Grime mix, but that is the point, you can listen to electronic music, but you can never truly hear the emotion behind it, simply because there is none. All Electronic Dance Music is created by mathematics. There is no feeling of joy or anger or sadness behind those arpeggiated synth leads or those MIDI drums, it's just a simple math algorithm used to manipulate the waveforms of varying sound frequencies. The true music that you can fully hear and feel is natural organic instruments. You can hear the sadness of the pianist as he smoothly transitions his fingers from key to key. You can feel the happiness of the guitarist as he plucks a melody and moves his fingers along the cherry-wood fretboard of his guitar. Have you ever wondered why no one has been able to convincingly recreate a good sounding guitar or piano playing program into a computer to be endlessly manipulated and used by technology? The answer is simple, because they can't, there is no possible way for a computer program that can recreate the compassion and feeling needed to play an instrument.
