Global Causes of Conflict

There is always conflict in this world and there always will be. Humanity as a whole has faced many conflicts and as it has progressed, conflicts have increased. With the increase in knowledge, there are more things in this world to form opinions on. As a result, this creates more opposition. The causes of these conflicts are religion, laws, and want.
One of the most common and violent conflicts in history is religion. According to Voltaire, "It is characteristics of fanatics who read the holy scriptures to tell themselves: God killed, so I must kill." This means that people are using the holy scriptures to justify murder and deception. This is important because it shows how these differences in opinions could affect the world immensely. Furthermore, by examining Voltaire's ideas, while one person may believe that one must follow the bible and live their life for God, another person may believe that they must live their life to the fullest and live for ourselves. While it is understandable individuals may argue that religion is not a main conflict, in reality people view religion so strongly that they become irrational . This is where conflict can arise. The difference in opinion can cause problems that can lead to violence, destruction and complete chaos. Religion is a sensitive subject that people base their life on and when people don't agree with their line of thinking, they tend to get defensive and that makes conflict inevitable.
The world is full of conflict and a big part of it is laws. Laws restrict people from actions they may not agree with and as a result, contention arises. According to Locke, "no one ought to harm another in his life, health. liberty, or possessions." This means that it's a law and our natural right to have these things. This is important because, laws are necessary for a peaceful society. Furthermore, while examining Locke's beliefs, it becomes clear that others may not agree with the guidelines of the law.
