Time To Myself

It has been such a long day. Actually, it has been such a long week. I have been so stressed out about anything from papers, to tests. My head feels as if it is caught between two blocks of metal, desperately trying to get to one another. There is so much pressure. The muscles of my neck and back are in tight little balls I can feel when I try to relieve my pain by gently massaging them. I finally have a few minutes to myself. I think I’ll get in the hot tub. I put on my bathing suit and walk over to the area that the hot tub is placed in.

I open the door. I stand there, in anticipation, smelling all the chemicals used to keep a hot tub maintained. I close my eyes and I focus on just the smells. I breathe in the musty smell an area such as this one can aquire when used often without ventilation. I also can sense the familiar scents of chlorine and bromine. It almost hurts my nose. It reminds me of days spent at the pool on vacations when I was younger. I remember the day I learned how to swim. I had been so afraid of the water before that day. Finally, I had decided I wasn’t going to miss out on any more fun. I jumped in the water and swam to where everyone else is. I ponder on that day for a few seconds, taking myself ou

After a few minutes I decide to put the jets on. I once again, turn to the control panel to the left of me and fiddle with the buttons until the pressure of the jets is just right. The jets make it seem as if a masseuse is massaging my neck, shoulders, and back. I enjoy this for a minute or two with my eyes closed. It sounds like bubbles are coming up and popping on the surface. You hear pop, pop, pop. You can hear a gentle whir of the engine that runs the motorized parts of the hot tub. It reminds me of the sound a washing machine makes. The jets also cause a thick foam to form atop the water and I open my eyes as it is becoming hard to breathe. I reach over to the table I set my towel on and obtain the squirt bottle that calms the bubbly foam that is dominating my breaths, blocking out all oxygen. I sprits it a few times and the vivacious foam vanished.

Before I do so, I step back and look at it. It is a lovely blue color and is wrapped in an oak paneling of wood. Pushed against a wall, you have to maneuver yourself just so to get the cover off. When the cover is not in use, the cover is placed between the hot tub and one of the walls touching its side. I notice the cover is in the area I just explained and I conclude that someone has forgotten to put the cover back on after using the hot tub. I don’t mind though, because it is a little tricky to get off. It’s cover is just a plain color of brown, but looks nice with the wood at the base of the hot tub. This hot tub is a 7’x7’ square and the label says about 5 people can fit. I know you can fit more, though. There are two seats on the left and right side of the hot tub. The two in the corners have jets that massage your lower back. On the front side, there is a panel on which you set the temperature, jets speed, and amount of bubbles. Below is a step that helps you ease into the water. The hot tub itself is about three feet deep and comes up to my stomach. On the adjacent side is a long “reclining chair. This has jets from head to toe and you can lay down. Either place you sit, it is a rather nice hot tub.

I walk into the hot tub area. There is a large standard cabinet made of a lightly colored wood that reaches from the floor to the ceiling. This is to my left. It is about as long as the wall it sits against. The cabinet is a storage place for numerous items. The left side is so full of tools, they almost fall on top of you w
