Does God exist might seem like a standard question in our society today but the people of Mesopotamia where civilization first started that would be crazy talk. In the ancient times one was called an atheist for not believing in the God of the place where they lived. The Idea of no God existing back would sound just as bizarre as someone not believing that the sun exist. Like the ancients, one does not need a degree to be able to arrive at God rather it is by reason alone can one see Gods existence. Reason in conjunction with science act like two sides of a coin and are not in opposition as some claim. .
LOGIC AS THE ROAD TO GOD.
When the apostle Paul was speaking to the church in Rome he was dealing with Jewish Christians and non Jewish Christians whom were both boasting. Paul quickly goes on to show that both are under the power of sin (Rom 1:1-3:31). Paul immediately criticizes the Gentiles for not of acknowledging God and following his ways. Paul's appeal to the existence of God is by way of reason when he says "For what can be known about God is plain to them, because God has shown it to them. For his invisible attributes, namely, his eternal power and divine nature have been clearly perceived, ever since the creation of the world, in the things that have been made. So they are without excuse." (Rom 1:18-20, English Standard Version). Paul is quite clear that the human mind can look upon creation and see that it did not create itself, rather that it was created like a painting that points to its creator. This quote brings seems to encompass three different proofs for the existence of God. These can be described as the first cause argument: causality and the designer argument. .
When I was younger despite my trying to deny God's existence or find a way to reject God I was faced with this reality everyday about the plain existence of God. I was constantly living in a fantasy world or some could say I was a walking contradiction for I lived on the hidden presumption that everything that exist, exist for a reason.
