Divorce in It's Complicated

The film "It's Complicated" was the best film to help us to understand the difficulties of being a divorced couple. While reading the chapter I had noticed that it said that normally the initiator of the divorce is the one to get remarried but the person who legally initiated the divorce was Jane. I believe that the initiator has to be taken in a non-normative way as in the person who made the divorce an option should be considered the initiator. Jake and Jane's divorce also shows the impact that a divorce has on the whole family and also the friendships that Jane had. .
The situation with Jane and Jake is very complicated because Jake in my opinion could be considered a serial cheater; I feel like Jake never learned how to be in a relationship because in both of his marriages he has cheated ironically he cheats on his first wife with his second wife and his second wife with his first wife. In my opinion the way to fix Jake and Jane relationship or Jake and Agnes' marriage would be to work on Jake as a person, he would need to learn what it means to be committed to another person. I believe that Jane would need to learn how to better-let people in other than Jake, she easily lets Jake waltz back into her life. Although it is seen that she doesn't let him in right away but she really lets him in a lot easier than she should. .
Being a person whose parents are still together, it is sometimes difficult to understand the total affect that divorce has on a family. I believe that this movie showed a first hand experience on what it feels like to have parents who are divorced. The most powerful part of the movie was during the end when Luke, Gabby and Lauren find out that Jane and Jake had been having an affair. The three children finally voice their opinions that they hadn't gotten over the divorce yet and this affair was just another thing that would complicate their family even more than it already was.
