The King Philip’s War and The American Revolution were conflicts in which the parties involved desired freedom, control over U.S. land, and running the nation the way each saw fit. In the King Philip’s War the Indians were fighting against the colonists, both wanted control over the territories and over each other. War was crucial for both parties because they were not working together and they could not reach a common goal. Many Colonists were using the Indians as slave labor and abusing them as well as the Indians in turn destroying the Colonial villages. The violence grew as the war began. War was necessary because neither group could trust in the other. The Indians though they were befriending the Colonists then in turn the Colonists accuse them of pagan acts and plotting against them, to then in hang them to die or post their head on a stick. The tension was far too great and the natives wanted to protect their land while at the same time the colonists felt it was their God given right to protect this new land. The main factor that brought them to war was fear. The parties involved feared what the other could do to them and their family. Unfortunately with this war much blood was shed but perhaps this is what has l
The King Philip’s War could have used much mediation from a third party to bring the Indians and Colonists to a peaceful arbitration. First of all, I would have brought representatives from both parties together and had them lay out a map of the area and then discuss where each group wanted to live and if they could possibly co-inhabit some areas. Secondly, I would discuss religion and politics with them. I would sit down with leaders from both sides and have them give detailed information about their religious beliefs and practice. Provided this information I would designate certain areas on the map were each group could fellowship and practice their own rituals without being seen or heard by the other group as not to disturb each other. The Indians and Colonists would have to set up certain rules that would always apply in any part of the land, rules that they can both follow like a law of a land. This is so that one town or Indian village can not say they have their own laws they could have some other laws they implement but these basic laws would be mandatory. After all these endeavors and seeing that they can work with each other to live a more free life hopefully this will bring the Indians and colonists together in a way that they will feel comfortable with each other and not in fear of the other. The American Revolution was more of a power struggle between England and the colonists of New England. A mediation between these two groups would be a little bit easier because both parties involved were from the same background, they were from England. The Colonists had mainly fled England because they wanted a new life, they were unable to practice the
