It may be said that a persons individual perception of reality depends on their beliefs, however it may also be said that ones beliefs determines the reality that person perceives as being the truth.

It is a known fact that is imposed from a very young age, that there is not a single person in the world that is identical to another, albeit physically, emotionally or genetically. If this is infact the truth, then it would be feasible to say that no two people share the exact same perception of reality because each individuals perception of reality is determined by a their thought patterns, their mental capacity and the world in which they are influenced by. This statement may be hard to justify, "But what if two people share the same beliefs, then wouldn't their perception be the same or if not, similar?" The answer to this is no, because although they may share the same or similar beliefs whether it be in religion, ethics etc, a persons perception of reality in a remote area in Kenya on the topic of Ufo's would obviously be somewhat different to that of a Australian. This is because they originate from totally different cultures and are influenced by completely different

factors. For example, a person in Australia can obtain an abundance of information that may provide evidence to eliminate fallacies in their perception of the reality of Ufo's whereas someone in Africa does not, he merely reads it in one of the few books available to him. The person living in Australia can use the information from encyclopedias, the Internet etc and process it so that if any evidence suggests that UFOS are real or that they are false, then they could draw their own personal opinion and would believe they are nearer to the truth or are able to alter their perception of what is real.

Furthermore, followers of Buddhism are open to experience or contemplate the validity of other beliefs that may allow them to ultimately alter their perception, whereas Muslims are not privy to this type of influence and it may be argued that it is, in a sense, harder for them to gain a truer perception of reality.

In conclusion beliefs play a vital role in each persons perception of reality. It is what information ("seeing"), individuals are subjected to within society, religion and everyday life that determines within each person, what is real and what is unreal, ("believing").

Religion is perhaps the most controversial topic when it comes to the perception of reality being linked to a persons beliefs. It is what divides the people in a community or country into subcategories. Although individuals beliefs may seem similar, such is that education is a vital aspect in a child's life, religion causes a distinctive difference in individuals perception of the world and reality.
