Children and the Early Years Foundation Stage

The strategy above links with the education Act 2002 section 175, where it says schools must have arrangements about safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children. The social worker has clearly been trained properly and knows the policies and procedures of the schools, therefore she is following them whilst still helping the child appropriately. This also links with the Statutory Framework for Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) 2014 which sets the standards that all early years providers must meet to ensure that children learn and develop well and are kept healthy and safe. It promotes teaching and learning to ensure children's 'school readiness' and gives children the broad range of knowledge and skills that provide the right foundation for good future progress through school and life. The social worker knows there is something wrong with the child and is trying to help the child to keep her healthy and safe from abuse.
The strategies that social workers do to help children link with the children Act 2004 where it states that the welfare of children is very important and safeguarding should be a priority. Also, it says that children's views should be listened to and the local authorities should have the right to take action to meet the child's needs. This links with social work as social workers work as a team to make sure the child they are assigned to help gets the proper care that is needed, they will also talk to the child as a one to one to listen to their views and help them out with their feelings and emotions. This also links with the Child Care Act 2006 which states that that staff must be trained to respond to and identify signs of abuse and neglect. Providers must notify OFSTED of any allegations of serious harm and abuse committed by staff. The social workers must know when a child is being abused or they must suspect when it is happening so they can help the child out as soon as possible before something worse were to happen.
