Abstract: This paper is not written to influence membership or affiliation with the organization known as Afscme. It is not written to over-state the fact that Afscme is the leading choice of the working class union associated employee. This paper seeks to address the numbers of employees of the international organization, the diversity of management in policy and practices as well as the demographic region affected by those changes, and the ethnic diversity employed by the organization. In addition this paper will address some programs cover that affect the diversity status of social classes in America. AFSCME is one of the fastest-growing and most influential unions in all of organized labor. It is also the largest union in the AFL-CIO. Affiliation works on many levels. The AFL-CIO is not itself a union but rather a federation made up of many unions. According to Richard Walsh, president of the Illinois AFL-CIO, AFSCME is among the strongest unions under his umbrella organization in membership and in political clout. He says public sector employment and public employee union membership are growing nationwide, with AFSCME and the Service Employees International Union seeing the most growth. In Illinois, Walsh believes AFSCME has probably grown the most.
