Female serial killers are divided into nine categories: Angels of Death, Sexual Predators, Revenge Killers, Profit Killers, Team Killers, Black Widows, Killers Whose Sanity is in Question, Killers Whose Motives Defy Explanation, and Unsolved Crimes.

First is an Angel of Death, who sees’ herself as God, preying on those who in her eyes are already marked for natural death, like people sick in hospitals. An Angel of Death’s weapons are hard to trace, their favored methods are either poison, such as a lethal injection of insulin, or suffocation with a pillow.

Beverly Allitt is considered an Angel of Death. She worked as a pediatric nurse for the Grantham and Kesteven District Hospital, in England. In 1991, during a fifty – eight-day period, she murdered four children an

“Sexual Predators are driven by sexual fantasies. Aileen Carol Wuornos, one of the very few women to fit this category.” She was quite different from other female serial killers, because she killed strangers.

Profit Killers kill strictly for money, they are considered “hit women.” The first known case of a female profit killer was in Russia, at the turn of the century between 1880 to 1909. Her name was Madame Alexe Popova, for nearly thirty years she would poison other women’s husbands and boyfriends to death. When she was caught, Popova confessed to murdering three – hundred men. Alexe Popova was executed by a firing squad in 1909.

One of the woman and man duos was Karla Homolka and Paul Bernardo. Together they killed three girls, including Homolka’s, sister Tammy. Homolka and Bernardo videotaped all of their activities to relive the pleasure of torturing another human being. During Christmas of 1990, Karla Homolka drugged her sister so Paul Bernardo could rape her. They videotaped that as well. To their surprise, Tammy suffocated by her vomit and then died. They kept it a secret.

Wournos had a tramatic and difficult life. At the age of fourteen, she was sexually abused and as a result of that she became pregnant. Her abuser is said to be by her grandfather. Aileen Wuornos became a prostitute at the age of fifteen. She operated the highways of Central Florida, as a prostitute. She would flag down random males, have sex with them for pay, and after shoot them to death with a .22 caliber handgun. After, Wuornos killed her victims she would rob them. Her killing spree lasted from December 1989 to November 1990.

Buenoano was tried separately for each murder and in 1984, was sentenced to life in prison. In 1998, she was executed by electrocution.
