Modern Art can, at many times, be irritating. Whenever I see artwork like that, I just wonder what is going through the artist's mind at the time of creating such a piece. Something interesting to know will be how Conceptual Art can be contradictory.
I will be discussing Modern Art in general but a large section will be focused on Conceptual Art as I've "discovered- a flaw in a few of the principles of Conceptual Art. I will back up my statements with reasons of my thoughts.
Classical and Modern Art.
What is Concept Art and Conceptual Art?.
Before I begin, I thought I should clarify the difference between the two. There seems to be a difference when it comes to the two different categories. Conceptual Art relies on the actual idea to make art (i.e. the idea is the art). The artist makes use of all sorts of props at his disposal to make something that will convey his idea. Although this form of art is an interesting "idea-, I feel that most of the works that come from it are made to be controversial or shocking or weird. I'm pretty sure there's good conceptual art out there, but I don't think I'll be willing to pay for it.
Concept Art on the other hand is simply the traditional arts with a concept. Although all drawings, paintings, sculptures, etc have a concept, the title is normally given to the artist that works in the entertainment industry (mostly movies and games). This form of art relies on the artist's ability to draw/paint/sculpt and his ability to come up with good ideas - he is basically a type of Conceptual Artist that can draw or is not sick of drawing.
Conceptual Art - Great in theory, but flawed in practice.
An idea is a great thing. It's very much like knowledge - it's great to have and will help us survive this world we live in. I would like to say a few things of what I think of ideas and knowledge before I tell you why I think Conceptual Art is flawed in practice.
First of all, like knowledge, an idea can't really be sold or bought.
