Roe v. Wade is one of the most controversial court cases the Supreme Court has been faced with. The decision based on this case has caused a serious and long-lasting debate between "right to life" advocates who typically limit abortion to those rare cases where it is medically necessary to save the life of the mother, and the advocates of a "right to choose" who favor leaving all questions of pregnancy and its termination to the decision of the pregnant woman. Giving women the choice to have a child is giving them the responsibility to do what they want with their bodies. If they choose to have the child, they choose to be responsible for that child. If they choose to have an abortion, they are making a mature decision to live with their mistake knowing that they cannot handle the responsibility of another life in addition to their own.
