A Cancer Survivor
In 1994 my mom was diagnosed with melanoma and that was something she thoughtcould never happen. Luckily she survived her journey and won her fight and has been able to stay with me and my family. Watching my mom go through what she did was not easy for me. It made an unforgettable memory and a hard lesson that I will never forget. As I take a trip back through memory lane, when I found out my mother was diagnosed with skin cancer, I remember not knowing what it was or how harmful it could be. It was like she just got the flu or something. As time went by I began to understand the illness and the more I understood it the more it hurt me inside. It wasn’t easy knowing my mother had six months to live. I was always there for her and I would perform any duties that needed to be done to help her. She never stayed in the hospital and I never asked why. Well, now that I think of it, she might have and I just don’t remember. I do remember her laying in her bed for nearly two years.
