It used to be a general belief that Man is the main working force in the society and women is supposed to support the men by yielding children and taking care of home and food. This is the tradition still persistent in many countries like INDIA, CHINA, PAKISTAN, etc. Now it has been taken as rule that whoever maintains the basic necessity of food, clothing and shelter is regarded as the controlling authority in a family and hence the society. If we talk in terms of years it can be said that until the commencement of A.D. era, men used to dominate the society all over the world. It was only after 1300 A.D. that few exceptions were seen and women started competing men in race of controlling society.

In INDIA, there used to be a lady known as “Rani Lakshmibai” aliased as “JHANSI KI RANI”. She has a great history behind her. She was wife of a Maratha ruler and after the death of her husband it was her responsibility to save “JHANSI – a province in India” from Britishers who used to rule over India during early 1800’s. She bravely fought against British Army and did not give up until she was wounded due to a bullet thudded in her spinal cord. Eventually she burned herself to death. She massacred as many as 150 soldiers and destroyed 50 cannon tanks. This is something that is rarely seen in Eastern countries. This example shows that there are some exceptions prevailing in eastern countries also.

If we talk about the situation in eastern part of world than it is seen that women are opening up a lot and have demolished their image of being narrow-minded and shy in nature. Many women today in Mumbai (INDIA) have stated up earning and male in that case stays at home and cooks food for the family. This trend is very rarely seen in the eastern part of the world. This is not the case is western culture. Women are free to do anything they want to do (within the limits of legal authorities). They have come up in industries like Fashion world, Architecture, Automobiles, Management, etc. The reason we see so many women in the media is that men are in charge of the media and they want to see women!
