Tomatoes and Oranges

Throughout my life, I have had the pleasure of eating many tomatoes and oranges. Along with having a great taste, the two fruit share a wealth of similarities as well as differences. They are both consumed as juices and are an excellent source of Vitamin C. Another important similarity of the two is that research indicates that they are an extremely good source of antioxidants, which help fight against cancer. Despite the multitude of similarities between the two fruit, they are also quite different. The first difference is that tomatoes are grown on vines, as opposed oranges, which are harvested from trees. Secondly, it is very common for individuals to eat the tomato's skin, but our society just has not acquired a taste for the hull of an orange. Again, there are numerous similarities between the fruit, but the differences are just as noticeable.
The tomato's juice is definitely my least favorite of the two juices. Despite the taste and consistency, it has a good source of Vitamin C and contains Lycopene, an antioxidant that scientist hypothesize might help protect against diseases of the heart and cancer. Oranges also come in the form of a juice, however they are not quite as concentrated as tomato juice, which is why it is my favorite of the two. The Vitamin C content of the orange is by far better than that of the tomato. Scientist have also linked the antioxidants found in the orange to help fight against cancer. .
Undoubtedly, both fruits have great nutritional value and a wonderful taste, however they tend to differ in the way in which they are grown and how they are eaten. First and foremost, tomatoes are grown on vines either in a person's garden or in a green room. But in contrast to the tomato, the orange is grown on trees in an orchard, or in someone's back yard. The second and final difference between the two is that the skin on the tomato can be eaten and put into salads without being peeled, but in our culture we tend to peel the orange before eating it or placing it into salads.
