Trials of Abortion

The dream of many couples throughout the world is to settle down with that one special person, get married, and start a new family by having a child. What would be more special and fulfilling than bringing progeny of your own into the world and continuing your family line? Too often, the conceiving of a child is an accident and unwanted, so what are people supposed to do when this happens. They have no where to turn, so they seek medical help from a trusted physician. They assume that since they might have enough money to handle the abortion expenses, the doctor should carry out the treatment without question, even if it is a mortal sin to kill the innocent. There are many doctors out there that will do whatever they are told just to get that pay check, but I believe that they should not perform abortions because doctors are here to save lives, not to take them away.

In many places throughout the world, abortion has been outlawed and in others it has just been regulated and restricted. The thought of killing innocent babies before they are even born often puts a disgusting taste in many peoples’ mouths. Studies show “Almost every third baby conceived in America is killed by abortion” (Family Planning Per

There is a doctor that has a practice in a western European country that will take select patients, for a very steep price, on a boat out into international waters and perform the medical procedure since country laws can no longer apply. This is an act of distress and despair on the behalf of the mother, but some times such procedures are unavailable so another alternative must be explored. Some expecting parents can’t handle the financial, social, or just adult responsibilities associated with having a child; this is where self and spousal abuse comes into play. This is also a great act of desperation and so will no doubt have tremendous psychological strains on the mother, not to mention possible health risks. I believe that the only way to cut down the amount of abuse that result from pregnancies is to stop it at the beginning by increasing birth control, which will cut down the number of medical and physically induced abortions.

I agreed with him entirely after hearing his views, so if a hospital ever asks me to perform an abortion I will refuse even if it causes me my job. I believe that as a doctor I would be there to help save lives and not take away innocent ones, that is flat out murder. The definition of a doctor, by Webster’s Dictionary, is a person that is qualified to treat diseases and physical disorders. I believe that unwanted pregnancy is neither a disease nor disorder, so these abortion doctors are not doctors at all, besides by qualifications. These qualifications give them the right by law to put these developing babies to death, so the job description fits that of a high-tech executioner more than a doctor.

Some people debate that there is nothing wrong with abortion because the child is just a fetus, it has no sense of pain within the first trimester and it is ultimately the parents’ choice. That may be true, but what doctor has the right to take away life in return for a paycheck even if the parents say
