Donald Trump

“I don’t do it for the money. I’ve got enough, much more than I’ll ever need. I do it to do it.” (Trump, 4) This quote by Donald Trump bluntly sums up how he regards his success as an entrepreneur. Donald Trump was born in 1946, with the full name of Donald John Trump. He was born into a wealthy family which could trace back to his paternal side of the past. This being said, one could imagine his childhood as being a privileged and blissful time. Donald would inherit the skill of recognizing a good deal when he saw it, since he would assist his father in his business proposals when he was still a young child. As a result of these acquired skills, Donald Trump would soon become one of the richest men in the world. Looking at his education, personal traits and use of business strategies one could recognize why he has become one of the leading entrepreneurs of our era.

At the young age of thirteen, Donald Trump enrolled in the New York Military Academy. Being there he was faced with many obstacles that he would perceive as easy to overcome. He was told when to do this, do that, get in step, keep your mouth closed, take a shower, do your homework, go to bed, and to get up. He let nothing get in his way. “For the first t

“There is an old saying that if you put a lot into something, chances are, you will get a lot out of it.” (Bohner, 219) Trump took this quote to heart. Trump believes that ordinary hard work is the key component for achieving success. He learned the difficult, and maybe the best way. During the late 1980s and early 90s, Trump found himself not working nearly as hard as he had worked before. He could not stay focused and thought that everything would just come to him on a silver platter. He thought he was on top of everyone else. This is when things began to plunge. “I am convinced that if I had maintained the same work ethic I had during the 1970s and most of the 1980s, there would have been no recession for me.” (Bohner, 220) Trump mentions another ingredient of success: luck. He thinks that people are born lucky or try to entice luck into your life. Luck may consist of being born into a wealthy family, inheriting intelligence from a parent, or having access to high privileges. However, there is another side to having luck. There are those people who inherit fortunes. Sometimes they are very cheap, or selfish. “They know that if they lose their money, they don’t have the ability to make it back.” (Bohner, 222) Trump explains how his passion for his work is another great element for success. You have to love it. If you do not have love for something you are most likely not going to succeed in it. Thinking positively has to be a normal thing, and do not let the negative thoughts even enter your mind. Many people have the capability of being successful, but are doing things they really don’t want to be doing. Another key ingredient for success is the courage to make a change. “There are times when a change in life’s course does seem strange, but it may well be necessary in order to create success.” (Bohner, 225) Success is calculated in delight not just in dollars. There are many people out in the world who are billionaires, but are extremely unhappy with their lifestyles and how they approach business. Trump believes that going against the tide is sometimes a smart thing to do. He learned this first hand. For example, when everyone
