Go! Go! Go! Touchdown! Honey, while you are in the kitchen get us some more chips and drinks. If this is what is heard all weekend long during football season and ladies, you feel left out, then get off the bench and into the game. Women who have been left out on football weekends and want to enjoy watching football with spouses and friends need to learn the strategies involved. Football strategies can be divided into three distinct categories according to the function needed they are offense, defense, and special teams. The strategy of the offense, the team that has control of the ball during the game, is to get first downs, control the clock, and score touchdowns. The offense is made up of the quarterback, running backs, receivers, and linemen all working together for a common goal. The first goal is to move the ball ten or more yards down the field for a first down within four plays. If the offense achieves this goal then they keep possession of the ball and try to get another first down. This process continues until they fail to obtain a first down. Ladies, now that you have the basics of football, maybe the weekends will be full of excitement as you watch your favorite teams. The strategy of the defense is to keep the offense, for the other team, from achieving their goals. They manage to perform this task by stunting, blitzing, and playing prevent. The defense, which is opposite the offense on the field, is composed of linemen, linebackers, and backs. The linemen are closest to the offense linemen. The linemen stunt by all of them going to the left or right on a given play in hopes that the offense is going the way that
