War is a very dangerous event and should be avoided at all costs. What happens when you can not avoid war? You as a society invent inventions that will make war safer and easier to win in the end. Before tanks and airplanes there were chariots. Chariots made infantry men mobile. “In this research paper on War Chariots of Egypt which I am writing for Professor Williams’ 2003 World Civilization class, I will compare text and web sources that are pertinent.”
The origin of the chariot is unclear; some historians believe that the chariot originated from areas in Mesopotamia. “[…] Chariots, shown in Sumerian depictions from about 2500 BC […]. ” The chariots found in Sumerian are not the same style of chariots found in later on in Egypt. “[…] [the chariots] were not true chariots but four-wheeled carts with solid wooden wheels drawn by a team of four donkeys or wild asses.”1 “The chariot paved its way into the Egyptian culture around 1500 BC.” From those four-wheeled carts the Egyptians changed and adapted them to a two wheeled contraption.
Many things make up a chariot from the kind of axle to how many spokes the wheels have. “[…] [Chariots] never had more than two wheels; these were carefully made
The only website that compared to the information found in my printed works was Andre Dollinger’s Ancient Egypt. This website as described above had all the information I needed to write my paper while the other site was a weak site and provided little information.
In conclusion the war chariots of Egypt were a great adaptation of a pervious invention. They were very successful and they were used for hundreds of years. Chariots were a key to the Egyptian forces and a building block towards future armored vehicles.
