Cesar E. Chavez

Cesar E. Chavez was a wonderful man, he lead migrant workers to better lives. He gained respect for himself and for others. This man was not afraid, he contributed his life to change the life of many people. A lot of people's lives were changed for the good because of Cesar Chavez. He was a wonderful and greatful man.

Cesario Estrada Chavez was born on March 31, 1927. He lived in an apartment. Below the apartment Chavez's family owned a grocery store adjoining a gas station and a pool hall. Two years after Cesario was born America went in to the Great Depression. The Great Depression was when many people lost their jobs and were very poor. Since Cesario's father was very generous, he would let his customers for food, on credit. Many people were not able to pay back Cesario's dad. So he soon fell in to debt. Cesario and his family had to move into Cesar's dad's house where he grew up.

Cesario's early childhood was very happy. He was blessed with a beautiful loved filled family. Cesario's family were very kind and loving to him. His parents were very affectionate. They would kiss and hug him, Mrs Chavez loved her kids o' so much. His family would work on their farm everyday. After he would work he would get r


When Cesar's father had a chest injury caused by a car accident, Cesar completly dropped out of school, he had barely finished graduating the 8th grade. Now he was a full time worker. As Cesar grew him and his family traveled from California's Imerial Valley in the south to Sacremento.

When the pact expired in the early 1980's, the Teamsters began recruiting feild workers. The UFW was falling once agagin. Many people were blaming Chavez and saying he was ausing them. But Chavez deffended himself by saying that he wanted to help the poor people in mant different ways. Also, the govener had changed now Demorcratic Govener Jerry Brown was long gone and Rebublic Govener George Deukmijianwas now the govener.

Chavez wanted to build a union but th CSO refused. So Chavez decided to become a national director. He tried to convince the CSO but they told him no. So in 1962 Chavez quit the CSO and started to create th NFWA. (National Farm Workers Association) The nFWA had it's first strike in the summer of 1965. On the first day of the strike 1,200 farm workers did not work. 44 workers were arrested. Chavez was on a roll.

Cesar was still a typical teenager. He dressed as a pachuo. Those days ended in 1944. Cesar joined the Navy to avoid the Army durring the World War II. For 2 years Cesar worked as a deck hand on the boats. Cesar's Navy years were very bad, the sea would get him seasick and he was always a little frightened. Cesar's teenage years were mostly spent working.

Cesar Chavez is still remembered today. His family established the Cesar E. Chavez foundation in 1994. He was also presented the Presidental Medal Of Fredom, the highest awardany citizen could ever recieve. Cesar Chavez was a leader and he never gave up, he always had hope and he believed not one person can make a difference, but if we all work together a difference will be made. All in all, Cesar will never be forgotten, he will forever live on.
