“Nonviolence is the greatest force at the disposal of mankind. It is mightier than the mightiest weapon of destruction devised by the ingenuity of man.”
This is a project on Gandhi for my Junior Certificate. I chose this particular one out of a list of many because it was the one that appealed most to me.
It starts of with a brief history on Gandhi and then on each page I go in to a lot of detail on the more important points of his life. There are also some small illustrations throughout the booklet to make things a little bit more interesting.
Mohandas K. Gandhi was born in 1869 to Hindu parents in the state of Gujarat in Western India. He entered an arranged marriage with Kasturbai Makanji when both were 13 years old. His family later sent him to London to study law, and in 1891 he was admitted to the Inner Temple, and called to the bar. In Southern Africa he worked ceaselessly to improve the rights of the immigrant Indians. It was there that he developed his creed
He was arrested on the evening of March the 10th 1922. He was but on trial and to make there job easier he pleaded guilty and was sentenced to 6 years imprisonment. In February 1924 he was let out of jail after serving only 2 years.
